Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup high-quality tahini
  • 8 oz dark chocolate (or white chocolate for variation)
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (or agave syrup/coconut sugar as alternatives)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

Optional Add-Ins

  • Chopped nuts or seeds (such as pistachios, almonds, pumpkin seeds)
  • Dash of cinnamon, cardamom, or chili powder (for a spiced twist)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

Gently melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently to avoid burning. This smooth melted chocolate will form the outer layers of your cups.

  2. Step 2: Mix Tahini and Sweetener

In a separate bowl, combine the tahini with the maple syrup (or your chosen sweetener) and vanilla extract. Stir well until the mixture is silky and evenly blended.

  3. Step 3: Layer the Ingredients

Pour a thin layer of the melted chocolate into silicone molds or paper liners placed in a muffin tin. Chill briefly until it is slightly set, then add a dollop of the tahini mixture, pressing down gently to create a smooth, even layer.

  4. Step 4: Seal with Chocolate

Cover the tahini layer with the remaining melted chocolate, spreading it carefully and evenly. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or chopped nuts on top if desired, adding extra flavor and texture.

  5. Step 5: Refrigerate until Firm

Place the filled molds in the refrigerator for at least one hour or until the cups are fully set and firm to the touch. Once set, gently pop the cups out of the molds and they’re ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Use high-quality tahini and chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Always chill the cups properly to ensure clean layers and ideal texture.
  • Taste the tahini mixture before assembling and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • Work quickly during assembly to prevent melted chocolate from seizing.
  • Add sea salt as a finishing touch to enhance all the flavors.
