Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 black tea bags
  • 2 cups water

Spices

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 3 fresh ginger slices
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg

Milk and Sweetener

  • 2 cups milk or milk alternative (whole milk, almond, oat, coconut, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Blend: Lightly crush the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, and cloves to release their full aroma. Add them along with fresh ginger slices and a pinch of ground nutmeg into a saucepan.
  2. Brew the Tea: Add water to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the black tea bags and steep for about 5 minutes, allowing the tea and spices to infuse thoroughly.
  3. Add Milk and Sweetener: Lower the heat and stir in your choice of milk and honey or maple syrup. Heat gently until warm and steaming but not boiling, maintaining a creamy, smooth texture.
  4. Strain and Serve: Strain the chai latte into cups to remove the spices and tea bags. Stir gently, taste for sweetness, and add more honey or syrup if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your festive Christmas Chai Latte.

Notes

  • Use fresh whole spices for the best flavor.
  • Keep the chai mixture at a gentle simmer to avoid bitterness.
  • Adjust sweetness gradually to suit your taste.
  • Froth the milk before adding for a café-like creamy texture.
  • Prepare the spiced tea concentrate ahead and refrigerate for quick latte preparation.
