Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (milk, dark, or white)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or peppermint extract for a minty twist)

Optional Festive Mix-ins

  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup dried fruits (such as dried cranberries)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
  • Pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger (for spiced version)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Pan: Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper or foil, leaving extra overhang on the sides for easy removal once the fudge is set.
  2. Melt the Butter and Chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, gently melt the butter and chocolate together, stirring constantly until smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sweetened condensed milk thoroughly, creating a rich, creamy mixture.
  4. Mix in Flavors and Add-Ins: Blend in vanilla or peppermint extract along with any optional festive mix-ins like crushed candy canes, nuts, dried fruits, or spices for your desired holiday flavor.
  5. Pour and Chill: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until the fudge is firm to the touch.
  6. Cut and Serve: Once set, use the parchment overhang to lift the fudge from the pan and cut into bite-sized squares for sharing or packaging as gifts.

Notes

  • Use quality chocolate for the richest and smoothest texture.
  • Allow fudge to fully set in the refrigerator before cutting to achieve clean slices.
  • Stir constantly when melting chocolate and butter to prevent burning.
  • Use room temperature ingredients for better blending of the mixture.
  • Add flavorings and mix-ins immediately after removing from heat for even distribution.
  • For clean cutting, warm a sharp knife under hot water, dry it, then slice.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Freeze fudge pieces individually wrapped for up to three months.
