Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni or small shells

Pickles and Vegetables

  • 1 cup dill pickles, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, minced

Dressing

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil the pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking and cool the pasta for the salad.
  2. Prepare the Pickles and Veggies: While the pasta cooks, finely chop the dill pickles and onion. Mince the fresh dill as well and set all aside.
  3. Make the Dressing: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and mustard until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine and Toss: Mix the cooled pasta with the chopped pickles, onion, and dill. Gently fold in the dressing until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  5. Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the salad for at least one hour to let the flavors meld and develop fully.

Notes

  • Use crunchy dill pickles for the best tang and texture, avoiding sweet bread-and-butter pickles.
  • Cook pasta al dente to maintain texture after mixing with dressing.
  • Adjust mayonnaise and sour cream ratios to make the salad lighter or richer.
  • Add a splash of pickle juice to the dressing for enhanced tanginess.
  • Serve chilled for optimal flavor and freshness.
