Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package instant ramen noodles (or 3 oz fresh/dried noodles)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced or thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the ramen noodles: Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions, usually about 3 minutes. Drain the noodles and set aside, reserving a small cup of the cooking water for later use.
  2. Sauté the garlic in butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and stir frequently for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and golden, taking care not to burn it.
  3. Combine noodles with garlic butter: Add the drained noodles to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the garlic butter mixture. If the noodles seem dry, splash in some of the reserved cooking water to loosen the sauce.
  4. Season and finish: Drizzle the soy sauce evenly over the noodles and toss again. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if using. Remove the skillet from heat, then stir in the sliced green onions and optional toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Use fresh minced garlic instead of powder for best flavor.
  • Do not overcook noodles; cook until just tender.
  • Adjust soy sauce quantity to control saltiness.
  • Reserve some noodle cooking water to make the sauce silky.
  • Melt butter slowly over medium heat to avoid burning.
