Honey Butter Chicken

Honey Butter Chicken is a comforting and flavorful dish that pairs tender chicken with a rich, sweet, and savory honey butter glaze. This easy-to-make recipe delivers crispy, juicy chicken coated in a glossy sauce perfect for quick weeknight dinners or casual gatherings. Using simple pantry ingredients, it offers a balanced taste loved by all ages and works beautifully with rice, veggies, or as a sandwich filling.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • Boneless chicken thighs or breasts (about 1 lb)

Coating

  • Flour or cornstarch (about ½ cup)
  • Black pepper (½ teaspoon)

Sauce

  • Butter (4 tablespoons)
  • Honey (3 tablespoons)
  • Minced garlic (2 cloves)
  • Soy sauce or seasoning salt (1 tablespoon)

For Frying

  • Vegetable or canola oil (enough for shallow frying, about ¼ cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels. Lightly coat each piece in a mixture of flour or cornstarch seasoned with black pepper to ensure a crispy crust once fried.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable or canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the coated chicken pieces for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  3. Make the Honey Butter Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium in the same skillet. Melt the butter, then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in honey and soy sauce or seasoning salt, mixing until the sauce is smooth and bubbling.
  4. Combine and Glaze: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat each piece thoroughly with the honey butter sauce. Let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to thicken the sauce and allow it to cling to the chicken.
  5. Serve Immediately: Transfer the glazed chicken to a serving dish and drizzle any remaining sauce over the top. Enjoy warm for the best silky and luscious honey butter flavor.

Notes

  • Pat Dry Chicken: Removing moisture from chicken before coating helps achieve extra crispiness.
  • Use Medium Heat: Cook the sauce gently over medium heat to prevent butter from burning.
  • Fresh Garlic: Mince garlic just before cooking for maximum aroma and flavor.
  • Don’t Overcrowd Pan: Fry chicken in batches if necessary to maintain crispiness.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Taste the sauce and add more honey if you prefer a sweeter glaze.
