Spaghetti Pasta
- 8 ounces spaghetti pasta (regular or whole wheat), broken in half
Meat
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey (can substitute with plant-based alternatives)
Aromatics
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Liquids
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
Finishing
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for stirring in or sprinkling on top)
- Sauté the Aromatics and Meat: Set the Instant Pot to “Sauté” mode and heat a splash of oil. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and translucent. Add the ground beef or turkey, breaking it up until fully browned and cooked through.
- Add Sauce Ingredients: Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the meat mixture. Mix well to combine all flavors.
- Layer the Spaghetti: Break spaghetti noodles in half and carefully layer them over the sauce without stirring to prevent clumping and sticking during cooking.
- Pour in Broth and Cook: Slowly pour in beef or vegetable broth, making sure the pasta is mostly submerged. Seal the Instant Pot lid and cook on “Manual” or “Pressure Cook” for 8 minutes.
- Quick Release and Stir: When cooking finishes, perform a quick pressure release. Open the lid carefully and stir everything to mix spaghetti into the sauce. Stir in Parmesan cheese if desired for a creamy finish.
Notes
- Break the pasta in half to help it fit better and cook evenly.
- Do not stir pasta into the sauce before cooking to avoid sticking.
- Use quick release to prevent mushy pasta.
- Sauté meat first for enhanced flavor and texture.
- Adjust broth amount carefully to avoid watery or dry pasta.
